SWATCH REVIEW: ESSIE WINTER COLLECTION

If you read PYP you know we are huge fans of Essie & have LOVED the last few collections. Essie has been stepping up their game in the hugest way. The collections keep getting better, tighter & filled with more “must-haves”. We couldn’t wait to see what was in store for the Winter Collection. In August team PYP had the opportunity to see the collection early for promotional purposes. We have had the HARDEST time keeping our mouths shut (& you’ll see why)!
The Essie 2012 Winter Collection is inspired by Kate Middleton (!!) – rich reds, a royal blue & of course, some sparkle!

Snap Happy – this creme polish is the brightest red of the group, leaning towards an orange undertone. We used 2 coats for the photos below & full coverage. We really love this red for the holidays, it is a lighter brighter than what we are seeing & is a great year-round colour polish.

Where’s My Chauffeur? – this Tiffany blue-esqe turquoise is a creme base & had beautiful application. This polish shade is the most likely to have a dupe, but still a beautiful shade. Again, this is a great colour that you can use year round & not feel like it’s too summery or wintery.

She’s Pampered – this medium red polish is described as a creme, but we felt it was more of a creme/jelly hybrid. The formula was great, needing barely a second coat. This red is a perfect holiday red & one can definitely rock it all through the winter months.

Butler Please – this bright cobalt blue was our favourite of the collection & immediately caught our eye! Look how pretty! This polish applied evenly with 2 coats, but dried with an almost satin/matte like finish (you can semi see in photos). If you are undecided about the full collection, this shade is def a must!

Leading Lady – upon first glance we assumed we’d have to have a base polish for this glitter, but no – this jelly wine glitter is packed with red sparkle. We only needed 2 coats for full opacity on the photos below. This polish is great for some holiday sparkle!

Beyond Cozy  – we haven’t overly LOVED  glitter polish in a long, long time but we are head-over-heels for Beyond Cozy. This gold/silver glitter polish applied evenly and fully covered the nail with 2 coats. The polish leans gold in darker lights & silver in brighter. The end result is some tense sparkle that would wow at any holiday party. A must-have for fellow #nailpolishaddicts

I like this collection – I bought 3 of them – Snap Happy just an FYI is as close to a dupe for Essie Geranium as you can get – Geranium has been a fav red of my for yrs so it really caught my eyeballs when I saw SH – they look alike in the bottle and on a tiny swatch I did from bottle to Scotch tape I take with me in my purse and place the tape on my nails to see what a color will look like on my hands – then I put the tape onto a sheet of paper so I can take it home and think about colors I have seen – checking my maybe like shades at home. This sys has helped me not bring home so many super close shades.
