NAIL ART TUTORIAL: COMING UP DAISIES

Spring/Summer fashion shows keeping popping up & our love for bright, floral fabrics continues. Today on PYP we try our hand at another floral print – last time it was roses & today we attempt some spring time daisies. Revlon recently released a huge line of new shades, including the Deborah Lippmann – Glitter in the Air dupe. We purchased a few and we’re going to try and incorporate them in all of this week’s tutorial to introduce our readers to the new colours as well.

Step 1: After applying a base coat paint nails with two coats of American Apparel – Angeline. This was one of those colours that we saw and instantly had to have. It is the perfect hot pink without being too neon or too red and as always, AA polishes have a creamy texture that always applies evenly.

Step 2: Using a nail art brush begin by painting the stems of the daisies with Revlon – Posh. Even though our collection has a ton of greens, this colour stood out to us. Posh is a little brighter than OPI – Jade is the New Black & we thought it would be perfect for grass/leaves. Starting at the tip of the nail drag the brush towards the base using different length strokes for stems.

Step 3: Once the stems have dried, paint 2-3 flowers on each nail, picking different length stems to fill out the nail. To create the petals begin at the middle of the stem and drag outwards 5 times for the petals using Sally Hansen – Whirldwind White.

Step 4: Dip a dotting tool into Avon – Sunshine – a bright yellow polish that works perfect for daisy centers. Seal in the nail art design using a good quality top coat – we recommend Seche Vite.

Everything is coming up daisies! This nail design can be done with many variations – you can switch up the flower colours, create a monochromatic design, add glitter, etc. This nail art is a little more on the difficult side, we suggest trying the pattern on a scrap piece of paper first. We can’t help but think of this picture when we think of daisies. Show us your daisies on twitter & facebook! Also, we are thinking of doing Valentine’s Day nail art for the first half of February – let us know what you’d like to see.
