SWATCH REVIEW: BUTTER LONDON SWEETIE SHOP

Spring is FINALLY here! We can’t lie, we did a few jumpy clamps when we received this collection. Look at the shades – pinks, lavender, mint – there’s no denying it, warmer days are here! Besides having the cutest names (Yummy Mummy, Cheeky Chops, Frilly Knickers to name a few), all butter LONDON polish is 3 Free – they contain no formaldehyde, no toluene, no DBP, and never have.

Straight from the catwalks, the inspiration for the Sping/Summer 2013 collection emerged from the charming colours and silhouettes of the 50’s-inspired femme fatale. Shades influenced by the soft pastels of cotton candy, milkshakes and macaroons enhance the playful feminine edge. A brilliant sherbet, luxe lemon and peppy violet are paired with an icy mint, rich candy pink and creamy khaki for a statement that’s sweet but chic. “Pops of pastels are iconic for spring and look like candy on the nails” – Katie Hughes, Global Colour Ambassador for butter LONDON.

Cuppa – This polish is an opaque  toasted tan crème & the only (sort of) odd ball out of the collection. We expressed our love for a good nude time & time again and this one is now added to the ‘best of’ list. The formula was a dream – tough for a nude polish. It was extremely creamy and only needed two coats. This shades is a latte like hue & great for a classic everyday shade for spring.ss11ss12

Fiver – This opaque icy mint crème polish had some blue undertones to it. We immediately thought of Easter and April Showers when we saw this polish. The formula was great, only needing 2 coats for the pictures below.ss9ss10

Fruit Machine – Favourite name. Favourite shade. This shade is a poppy carnation crème & reminded us how much we love pink even though our wardrobes may be 90% black & neutral tones. We used 2 coats for the pictures below. The formula was great – this polish would be great for a floral nail art design.ss7ss8

Jasper – This shade is an opaque bright pastel yellow – somehow butter LONDON manages to create a polish that’s both pastel and soft and bright aka. magic. This polish was little thinner than the others – needing 3 coats for the swatches below. Crayon yellow nail polish is the most ‘user-friendly’ so this softer side of yellow is perfect for those that aren’t into it’s brighter brother.ss3ss4

Kerfuffle – These shades are the hardest for us to divvy up. Something about coral polishes & we’re hooked right in. You can never have too many coral polishes & we never find two that are alike, therefore we need to have them all (great reasoning non?). This polish is an opaque pink/peach coral crème, that has a strong orange hue through-out. The formula was great and creamy, only needing 2 coats for the below swatches.ss5ss6

Molly-Coddled – This polish is an opaque lavender/lilac orchid crème with a slight blue undertone. We almost had full coverage with 1 coat – great creamy formula! This is the quintessential spring polish shade. Poppy, bright pastel, fun and different from the usual suspects.ss1butter londss2

  3. Toni says:

This collection makes me long for sun (it’s still a little chilly where I live). Absolutely loving Fruit Machine!

  4. I love them all, especially the neutral and mint shades! I just purchased a mint color for only a few dollars and I got what I paid for…uneven, poorly textured, too-blue color. I think I’ll invest in some Butter next time. Thanks!

  5. Such a pretty collection! I think I need Fruit Machine – so bubblegummy! And Jasper!

  6. Love the nude and the molly-coddled. I love a good nude colour too, nothing beats it.

I think your swatch of Kerfuffle confirms I want it, lol! I’ve already got Fruit Machine and I love that one!
