For today’s tutorial we brought it back to the basics! We were definitely due for an ombre nail, it’s been awhile. We combined one of our favourite methods with some nail hardware. This design does take a little bit of time & patience, but we think the end result is worth it!SS1

Step 1: After applying a base coat, we are currently using Nails Inc – Kensington Caviar Base, paint nails with 2 coats of OPI – Alpine Snow. The white base shade will help the colour show through on the next step.SS2

Step 2: Using a cosmetic sponge, paint the nail polish shades you would like to use directly onto the sponge in stripes. We used: Zoya – Shelby, Essie – She’s Pampered & Nicole by OPI – Hit the Lights. Dab the sponge on your base shade, over and over to cover the white colour. This part is a little messy.SS3SS2B

Step 3: Clean up the excess nail polish with a q-tip & some nail polish remover, the remainder with a angle-tipped nail art brush. Using silver nail studs place in a spaced pattern. Don’t forget to seal in your design with a top coat to secure your studs!SS4

What do you think of today’s ombre tutorial? What are your favourite colours to ombre? We forgot how much we loved nail studs – we purchased ours here ($1 you can NOT go wrong)! Tweet us @PolishYouPretty your thoughts on Studded Sunrise.
