We just can’t get enough of fall shades. We find ourselves changing our nail polish even more in the colder seasons, which we didn’t even know was possible. The darker hues and cool tones work so well together to create great fall nail art to match your wardrobe. For today’s tutorial we wanted to do something simple & office appropriate without being too out there. This design can be done with any of your favourite fall shades!

Step 1: After applying a base coat, paint nails with two coats of OPI – Don’t Pretzel My Buttons. This beige shade has a slight grey undertone & was easy to apply only needing two light coats for full opacity. Don’t Pretzel My Buttons is a perfect fall staple.

Step 2: Using a larger dotting tool in OPI – Just A Little Rosti At This, begin placing large polka dots at the tip of the nail, stopping at about the halfway point. Remember to cover all of the tip not leaving any of the lighter shade showing underneath.

Step 3: Now, with a smaller dotting tool begin at the halfway point and work polka dots down towards the base of the nail. Place the smaller polka dots at random, overlapping each other to create more of a fade/breakaway look than straight polka dots. Don’t forget to seal in your design with a top coat – we recommend Seche Vite.

  5. Who says nail art has to be completely uniform to be winsome? At the Kate Spade show, models showed off these pretty black and cream polka-dot nails with asymmetrical and multisized dots. Along with the models’ almond-shaped nails, the quirky dots gave the manicure a whimsical feel that was fresh and simple, not to mention easy to copy at home. So next time you’re in the mood to change your spots, take a page from Ms. Spade’s book and don’t worry about “perfect”-looking polkas.

Wow another really nice one. I love this look. Do you have any suggestions on what I could use if I do not have a dotting tool? Or just where I could get that tool?

    Thanks for the tutorial!
