Julep Week continues on PYP, Day #2 brings us paint splatters (& not the messy kind)! We’ve dabbled in different kinds of splatter patterns in the past (see: here, here & here) but wanted to try a controlled bright pop of colour splatter. We know a lot of darker Fall/Winter tutorials will soon start & we wanted to hold on to a little more of Summer.

Step 1: After applying a base coat, paint nails with 2 coats of Julep – Kate. Kate is such a great switch up from a classic white or neutral. It has a soft white based and is packed with subtle silver shimmer – a great colour to pair with electric brights.

Step 2: Using a larger dotting tool, begin your splatters with your first shade, Julep – Leah a classic Kelly green. Place one big polka dot on the nail. Dip the dotting tool back into Leah and pull the tool, creating legs/splatter lines to your circle shape. Play around with different numbers, lengths, etc making each one unique.

Step 3: Repeat Step 2 using Julep – Anne, a Barney purple that pops (say that 5x fast) & Julep – Lauren a vibrant hot pink. All 3 shades look great in contrast with the light base colour. Once you have all your splatters in position, add a few polka dots (aka. mini splatters) around the design. Don’t worry about overlapping, it adds to the look. Seal in your design with a top coat!

Julep is a fun hand, foot & nail care company with 4 salons in the Seattle area. They also came up with the idea to share their love of nail polish & finding new shades with everyone – for $19.99/month you can receive a package from Julep tailored to your style! You can purchase Julep polish online for $14/bottle here.
