NAIL ART TUTORIAL: PINEAPPLE EXPRESS
The tropical theme continues… We are big fans of fruit nail art designs (See here & here), so we had to give some love to our favourite tropical juicy fruit – the pineapple! We’ve had this idea on the backburner for some time & Hawaii was the final straw to create a tutorial. Ps.
Step 1: After applying a base coat, paint nails 2 coats of China Glaze – Happy Go Lucky. This bright yellow is perfect for the base of our pineapple design.
Step 2: Begin creating a scallop design using Joe Fresh – Pineapple (umm, perfect shade!) Create “U” like shapes in an alternating pattern, leaving the top 1/4 of the nail blank closes to the base. Not even going to lie, this too a LONG time – but the results is really worth it, promise!
Step 3: Once Step 2 is finished (ie. you’ve watched Titanic twice) it is time to create the fountain of leaves from the top of the pineapple. Using CND – Green Scene paint 4-5 triangle leaves coming from the base of the nail. We find it easiest to line the base first with the green shade so you’re cuticles stay intact. Using a highligher shade, Essie – Mojito Madness, paint a few lines to add depth to the leaves. Don’t forget to seal in the design with a good coat of top coat – you don’t want all that work to get chipped!
We LOVE how these turned out – they just might be our favourite design we have ever done on PYP. Although the design looks a little on the complex side, it is not too bad when broken down into steps, just a little more time consuming then most! What do you think of Pineapple Express? Not the movie, the nail art tutorial (sidenote: James Franco = yummy). Let us know on Twitter & Facebook! We always wanted to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who follows us on Instagram 🙂
