NAIL ART TUTORIAL: SUMMER SORBET

We wanted to add some bright shades to our tips, so we used a fresh sorbet palette (mmm, instant craving). We love taking a simple look and playing around with different colours on each nail to creating varying patterns vs. picking one and sticking with it – hey, sometimes we’re indecisive. Behold, our summer sorbet overlapping mani!

Step 1: After applying a base coat (CND – Toughen Up) paint each finger a different colour: Essie – Mod Squad, Sally Hansen – Sunkissed, Misa – Be My Valentine & a new (to us) brand – Nail the B.Y.T.C.H – Not Ya Honey! Honey! Nail the B.Y.T.C.H not only has an amazing name (standing for “be your true creative heroine”), but has beautiful shades with cute cheeky names. Not Ya Honey! Honey! is a smooth bright yellow shade & applied evenly with 2 coats. See more polishes here!

Step 2: Starting on your first nail – paint the next 2 colours in line: Eg. yellow with pink and orange, orange with pink and red, etc. Start 3/4 of the ways down your nail towards the base, create a triangle shape to meet the middle of your tip. Repeat this process with other side of your nail, overlapping your first shade.

Step 3: Repeat this process on the rest of your nails – try to create similar size overlapping on all your nails. Seal in your design with Seche Vite & there you have your summer ready bright mani!

We love how these turned out – the possible colour combinations are endless. This nail art is a tad on the difficult side for the straight lines, if you do not feel confident using the brush from the nail polish bottle, try using a striper brush and colouring in the remaining shape. You could always go the safe route of using tape too! Tweet/Facebook us your overlapping summer sorbet nails and let us know what colour combos you think would work best!

  1. […] I took a trip to Philly two weeks ago to visit one of my best and oldest friends, Sabina. She had a bachelorette weekend in Miami coming up and wanted to do something fun with her nails. So we searched through Pinterest, Instagram and more to find inspiration for this Miami mani. We couldn’t find a design that she loved until we scrolled through Polish You Pretty and found this.
