Sold exclusively at Nordstroms &, The New Black Innovations in Color are perfect polish sets made for fellow ombre lovers. Each shade can be worn on it’s own or on each digit for the classic ombre style. Besides the obvious, what we realllllly love about these packs are the range of polish types within the set. Each set of 5 colors range from shimmer, glitter, classic gloss, frost, jelly, etc. – giving the overall ombre finish a truly unique look. Ombre has been everywhere for the past 2 years – which makes The New Black nail polish one of those ideas you wish you thought of first. These sets are so simple & brilliant, & truly extend fashion to your fingertips. The majority of polishes seen below applied with 2 coats, but any exceptions are listed below.

Floyd –  Girlie Girls unite – this set ranges from a soft ballerina pink to a bright bubblegum shade. The Floyd set is from their original line up & is perfectly timed for Spring. If you read PYP you know we love a good pink, so this was right up our alley. Also, love the name of this set – we’re sold!

Graffitti – our instant favourite! Most black ombre nails we’ve seen range from black to grey, this one stands out from any others as it fades into silver. The set ranges from a  loose silver glitter to solid shiny midnight black. We can’t say enough about this set – we wear black polish year round & this is definitely going to be a reoccurring look for us. The loose silver glitter on the pinky needed 4 thick coats to fully cover – it would be best used as as top coat. Ps. we have NEVER had so many compliments on a simplistic nail art look since Graffitti & we totally get why – the combination of these shades is perfection!

Rover – A gradient take on classic red, Rover was a set even our moms were on board for! The colours vary from blush rose to a deep crimson, the dark red being our favourite of the 5. We’re  such suckers for a good blood red, so this shade will be worn again and again. These ombre shades transform in such a nice way from pink to red and we can’t wait to try them out in a nail art design.

Horizon – This set instantly reminded us of the Lauren Conrad red carpet look we originally fell in love with (& copied!). The colours rage from bright white to a shimmery navy resulting in the perfect summer/nautical look and feel.  The only issue we had was with the middle finger colour – although the prettiest colour of Horizon with it’s purple/pink iridescent shimmer tones, it needed a little more tlc with 3-4 coats.

The New Black can be purchased on or for $22 for a set of 5, a set of 3 for $14 or a set of 2 for $10 that would be perfect for alternating fingers – a look we often sport when we want something simple & different. Follow @Nordstrom on Twitter to keep updated with new shades from The New Black. They recently released 3 new sets we are DYING to get our hands on – purple, teal and khaki & we’re sure they are just as great as these!
