SWATCH REVIEW: PRITI NYC – AFTER THE SNOW PRE-SPRING 2012

We always love lines that break away from the norm – introducing Priti NYC and their Pre-Spring 2012 collection: After The Snow. This collection was anything but average in comparison to others. While other brands were bringing the brights & pastels, Priti NYC went with a muted neutral palette, jammed packed with subtle shimmers – perfect shades to defrost us from this cold weather and warm us up for Spring! We’ve never tried Priti NYC before, but had always seen it pop up  in fashion magazines. Now we know what all the hype was about.

Cotton Sprig – this is a colour we wouldn’t normally gravitate towards, so we were a tad skeptical. We should’ve known that second guessing a colour sometimes means that you have nothing like it in your collection, which usually ends in a huge polish win! This burnt sienna is less orange based than it appears in photos and dries with a medium brown hue with undertones of a deep raspberry. Also, can’t forget the shimmer – this one was packed with silver, pink and goldy tones & applied opaque in two coats for the pictures below.

Lambs Ears – immediately this name makes us think of those soft plants. This muted olive tone replicates that soft look perfectly while combining a subtle shimmer. The shimmer does a good job at brightening up a classic fall/winter shade and turns it into a fresh one just in time for Spring. This polish applied evenly in two coats & when dried we noticed a slight purpley/pink tint to the shimmer – love!

Coffee Bush – this light coffee taupe instantly caught out eye – we love a good nude and this one has that extra punch, with gold shimmer shining in the light. With gold shimmer shining through its nude base, this tone is transformed into an eye catching neutral without being a metallic or “frosty” polish. This was our favourite of the collection, it applied like a dream needs only 2 coats to be fully opaque – super rare for a nude!

Dusty Miller – this colour is so so beautiful in the bottle – it is what first drew us into the collection. Although we have been seeing a lot of mint/aqua shades, this one stands out from replicates because it has TONS of teeny tiny flakie bits through out – making this polish not only different from anything we have in our collection, but we didn’t have any shade with a comparable formula. This colour applied evenly with 2 coats, we got carried away with the flakie flecks & used 3 coats in the photos below.

This collection was a very much needed breath of fresh air – filled with different shades and tones that currently aren’t anywhere in rotation. We have blossomed into big Priti fans and now we can’t wait for their Sailing in Sardinia collection, all blue inspired by the Mediterranean sea. found Seche Vite at Winners and at Toronto Beauty and Barber Supply outlet! Try there if you can’t wait 😉 If you don’t have those steros around you then Nail Polish Canada is a great option 🙂

  4. Just found your blog about a week ago, and I’m in LOVE! Thanks for taking the time to share all of this. I’m inspired to try so many of these things. I need to run to my local beauty supply for a few items to make the designs possible. I’m going to start trying this weekend! Thanks.

    Such pretty colors !!
I have a question – You do so many reviews and obviously you keep applying and removing nail polishes very frequently – So, I wanted to know what Nail polish Remover and Top / Base coats do you use or recommend … If possible, could you please tell me one expensive and one alternate less pricey ones ….
    Thanks a ton !! 🙂

Very pretty and girly. I just ugboht It’s Totally Fort Worth It and it’s so much prettier in person. I also got the silver shatter and put it on my toes over Mod About You OPI and it looks really cute. I think the silver shatter is my new favorite shatter color. It looks good on fair skin because it’s not too dark of a silver. Cute picture of the kittens!! 🙂
