SWATCH REVIEW: CHICK NAIL POLISH

We love finding independent nail polish companies & Chick Nail Polish has been on our radar for a while. After seeing the brand pop up on our favourite sites we couldn’t wait to swatch some shades. We love the cute bottles they come in and how almost every polish name has something to do with birds – again, we are huge suckers for good polish names. Chick Nail Polish is a non-toxic, vegan friendly nail polish line that comes in an array of colours & would be great in any nail polish addicts collection. You’d think that you might have to compromise on style or formula when looking for a vegan friendly line, but Chick Polish proves otherwise…

All A Twitter –  this pale blue polish reminds us of robins eggs – soft hued & fully opaque with only 2 coats. The application for this colour was great, leaving no brush streaks behind. We are a bit impartial to this colour – it matches the Polish You Pretty colour scheme! Not too teal, but not too bright blue – this colour was a definitely a must have for us.

Gr8 Gray Owl – this medium grey shade is best described as a muted asphalt, using 3 coats for the swatch below. We still love grey tones, even after their explosion a couple years back, and we can’t lie –  our hearts still skip a beat when we spot one in a collection. When going through our collection we couldn’t find a grey quite like this – not too light, and too dark. Hello new go-to medium gray! This polish is Gr8!

Moss – this jade-like green applies like a dream, we barely needed two coats for even application. We love the ‘bright, but not too bright’ colours like this – this is a perfect transitory shade with Spring right around the corner. We threw this colour on as soon as we received our package and got a ton of compliments – that’s when you know you have a good shade! We must say…the light forest green compliment our skin tone perfectly.

Raven’s Egg – pièce de résistance! We are head over heels in love with this shiny navy. This deep blue shade looks just as shiny on the nail as it does in the bottle. This colour pops off our nails and is our favourite Chick Nail Polish colour. With its regal/royal quality, we can’t stop staring at our nails! The photos below almost make the polish look streaky, but in person that’s not the case – the formula is perfect!

We used Chick Nail Polish – Wet Look Top Coat over each shade. You don’t see much variation between top coat appearance so we were sceptical with how the top coat would look once dry. We were actually quite surprised! The formula itself is thinner than most top coats and almost has a light oil quality to it that made it a dream to apply. It did not come across as impressive in pictures as it in real life, but it gave a soft dewy look on our nails that we loved. This top coat stays true to its name and makes your nail actually look wet!

We can’t say enough good things about Chick Nail Polish. Who knew they could pull off fun shades that not only have a perfect formula, but are also vegan friendly?! Kudos Chick Nail Polish! Purchase your polishes here – $9/bottle and  $5.99 for their top coat.

  1. […] Step 2: Once your base colour has completely dried, using black stripe tape, overlap two pieces to bring to a point at the tip of the nail – creating a triangle shape. Repeat this step on all of your nails, making sure the tape is secure. Once you have your lines where you’d like, paint over the whole nail with 2 coats of Chick Nail Polish – Gr8 Gray Owl (We are big fans of this colour, see here). […]
