New York Fashion Week showcased some amazing manicures – we couldn’t wait to try some out ourselves. The runways sported a lot of nudes, gradient glitters, back to basic shades & updated moon manicures. Although those were all show stopping manicures,  we fell absolutely in love with CND’s Time Machine design at the Nicole Miller show – bright shades showcased in a spiral pattern. We knew the design would take some time and patience, but we were game. So here it is… our take on CND’s Wanda Ruiz hypnotic Nicole Miller Time Machine nails. Enjoy!

Step 1: After applying a base coat, paint nails with one coat of Sally Hansen – Lively Lilac. In the original design some of the purple shows through on the sides, our final result didn’t have that – so you can skip this step if you think you’ll have the same problem.

Step 2: Using a small nail art brush, dip into Avon – Sunshine to begin the swirl pattern. Start in the middle of the nail and move the spiral outwards. We found it best to rotate our nail to help with the circle pattern. The yellow spiral will be the beginning of the lollipop pattern.

Step 3: Next, move to American Apparel – Mount Royal  and follow the spiral pattern on the outer side of the  yellow line. Follow the spiral all the way around, breaking at the sides if it doesn’t fit. Pick the pattern back up where the spiral should appear. Repeat this step using Sally Hansen – Sun Kissed, filling in any holes that are showing. Seal in the design with Seche Vite quick dry top coat.

This design took a little more than most & required a steady hand, but we love how they turned out. Totally psychedelic, these swirls could be done in an array of different colours and would even look great in classic black and white. We can’t wait to see what the runways have in store with the fashion weeks ahead. Tell us what you think about our take on CND’s NYFW manicure and don’t forget to share your Timewarp manicures with us on Facebook or Twitter!
