NAIL ART TUTORIAL: CALIFORNIA WAITING

All week we’ve been looking into planning a vacation as we are desperately trying to escape this cold weather, and although our hunt continues, for this post we decided to send our nails on a little trip to paradise. Now instead of closing our eyes and visualizing being somewhere with warm sun and sand we can just look down at our nails! Almost as good, right? Wrong, but who doesn’t love palm trees? Maybe we get so excited about them because they look so different than anything we see here in Canada, but as soon as we see them we cant help but instantly think ‘vacation’.

Step 1: After applying a base coat, paint nails with 3 coats of Joe Fresh – Pineapple. Joe Fresh is a Canadian based company – not only do we love their polish and cute bottles, but we love that you can pick them up at the grocery store. Buy some pineapple, pick up pineapple polish – perfect for us!

Step 2: Tape the perimeter of your nails and using the sponging technique from our Ombre manicure seen here, first sponge OPI – Y’all Come Back Ya Hear? & repeat with Nicole by OPI – Kourt is Red-y for a Pedi. Now you have a sunset on your tips – we were really tempted to stop here.

Step 3: Dip your nail art brush into China Glaze – Liquid Leather, begin by painting a jagged sand line around the tip of the nail. The line does not have to be perfect.

Step 4: Next, begin with your palm trees – create a curved line & add 5-6 palm leaves for each tree trunk. Add a little shading near the middle for coconuts and other foliage that gathers. We added some birds to switch up our ring finger and add to our beachy scene.

Now with this sunny scene on our nails we are so anxious to hop on a plane and get out of here. You can switch up this design by adding other silhouettes – a sun, a beach pail, sailboat, etc. The sunset would also look great with some purple and blue hues. Now we can’t stop singing this (check out those pants!).
