NAIL ART TUTORIAL: BLACK TIE AFFAIR

Cute dressy tiny tuxedos on our nails – this is one of the funnest nail art ideas we have seen in a long time. We’re not going to lie, we were SO excited to try this. We thought today would be perfect because the new nail art brushes we ordered finally came in the mail – yay! We were browsing around Amazon one day & found a nail art supply surplus store, we also ordered 15 nail art wheels – studs, gems, sprinkles, oh my! Stay tuned…

Step 1: After applying a base coat, paint nails with Sally Hansen Diamond Strength – Timeless White. The white base is a little on the difficult side to get fully opaque, this took us about 3-4 coats.

Step 2: Using a long nail art brush & China Glaze – Liquid Leather, draw a diagonal line meeting at the center tip of the nail, repeat process on the opposite side of the nail creating a V shape. This will be the beginning of the tuxedo jacket. We recommend starting off with a smaller V, that way you have a little room to perfect the straight edges of the jacket without going too high up the nail. Paint the hollow triangle parts with the brush from the bottle to completely fill the base.

Step 3: Take a very small nail art brush and create a figure 8 shape at the bottom middle of the nail. Stretch out the figure 8 creating points at the edges – this will be your bow tie. This part is extremely tricky and takes a bit of practice. We messed up a few times. It’s best to practice on a piece of paper before hand. Using a dotting tool make three dots down the center of the shirt for buttons. After design has completely dried, apply a heavy-duty top coat.

This nail art is adorable, although it is pretty difficult, with a little practice it is one to wow your friends. There are so many different ways you can modify the tiny tuxedos – different colours, different suits, different ties, these little groomsmen can look different every time you paint. Take style cues from your favourite menswear and have 10 tiny suited people on your tips!
